Truing wheels requires that you tinker a bit, forget about, and then come back to, and repeat many times.

There is something about hitting that sweet spot and having the widsom and courage to stay there, rather than embark on a multitude of attempts to improve upon it, which lead to a gradual departure from that point

This also applies to SEM imaging.

Truing wheels also requires that you accept that not all wheels will ever be true again.
